Self Portrait: “Woman in a Grass Dress”

Self Portrait: “Woman in a Grass Dress”

When I look at the natural world, or the world at all really, I want to see not only what is right there, presented to me by fate, or by nature;

by the placement of my body in space, by the time of day, or the day of the week, the slant or color of light or the season of the year.

I want to see the world that lies just beyond that first layer, the one we see out of our peripheral vision.

I want to gently lift the veil on this world, to see in to the place where shadow and shape and light and color suggest another place: the cellular, the spiritual, the mystical, the magical.

That's what I'm looking for. That’s what I seek to convey in my images.
